Code of Conduct
Overview
This Code of Practice outlines the professional standards expected of all tutors working with Christian Learning Community. It ensures ethical conduct, safeguarding, and high-quality educational delivery across all our services.
1. Professional Conduct
- Tutors must act honestly, respectfully, and professionally in all interactions.
- Relationships with students and families are strictly professional.
- Tutors should foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Feedback must be constructive, regular, and tailored to individual student needs.
2. Safeguarding and Child Protection

- All tutors must hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Tutors must prioritize the safety and welfare of all students, including those not directly tutored.
- Communication with students under 18 via social media or messaging is strictly forbidden.
- Tutors must report any safeguarding concerns to the DSO
3. Communication and Transparency
- An Initial Learning Plan (ILP) with clear objectives and feedback procedures must be filled out and agreed upon before tutoring begins.
- Tutors must maintain open and regular communication with parents or guardians of students younger than 18 years old.
- Accurate records of sessions and student progress must be kept and shared upon request.
4. Suitability and Qualifications
- Tutors must be appropriately qualified and/or experienced for the subjects and age groups they teach.
- Any special educational needs beyond a tutor’s expertise must be referred to the appropriate contact.
5. Continuous Development
- Tutors are expected to stay updated with curriculum changes, exam specifications, and best practices in pedagogy.
- Regular professional development is encouraged.
6. Working with Churches and Venues
- Tutors must respect the values and environment of the church venues where sessions are held.
- Sessions should be conducted in safe, quiet, and appropriate spaces, with a responsible adult when tutoring minors.
7. Complaints and Accountability
- Tutors must cooperate fully with any investigations or complaints.
- Any criminal charges or safeguarding concerns must be reported to the DSO immediately.
8. Data Protection and Confidentiality
- All student information must be kept confidential unless disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.
- Online sessions should be secure, and recordings (if made) must follow strict consent and storage protocols.
This Code reflects our commitment to excellence, safety, and integrity in education. All tutors must confirm in writing that they have read and agree to abide by this Code.
